What is a Rheumatologist?
Rheumatologists specialize in a variety of diseases falling under two main categories: Inflammatory diseases of the immune system and certain diseases of the bones and joints.
We are not a replacement for Primary Care Physicians. Our value is in treating complex inflammatory diseases that require complex medication management. We will keep your primary care physician updated so they can continue to oversee your general medical care.
We do not specialize in management of chronic pain. Although many of the diseases we treat cause painful or swollen joints, our focus is on treatment of the underlying inflammatory disease.
